B.F.A. Acting Program:
At the University of Calgary, Katharine auditioned for and completed a four year B.F.A. degree in Acting.  Students auditioned every year to remain in the acting program. In Katharine's second year of training, she was cast as Laura in "The Glass Menagerie" in a mainstage production.  This experience was a wonderful confirmation of her resolve to be an actor, as well as inspiring a life-long love of Tennessee Williams' plays.  In Katharine's first-year acting class, her teacher and mentor was Grant Reddick, a professional actor and former student of Uta Hagen. Through Grant, Katharine was introduced to and formed by the Hagen approach to naturalistic acting.  Other leading roles throughout her program followed and she  was awarded the Gold Medal for the Department of Drama in her graduating year.

M.A. in English Literature, UBC:
A Master of Arts degree in English literature nourishes Katharine's work as an actor and as an acting coach. Studying literature provides her with a deeper understanding of the elements of story, rhetoric, character development, text, themes, imagery. All these elements are potent resources and tools for the actor as the actor develops and inhabits the world of the play.  Literary studies also give Katharine a high regard for the writer and playwright, as she believes the actor's role is to serve the story by powerfully engaging and drawing the audience to the story.

Katharine's 30+ years of professional acting experience onstage, her training, and her graduate studies with the written word, have given her an ear and an eye for analyzing text, evaluating performance, and offering clear and valuable feedback for her clients.
