"And there is no more transparent actor in town than Katharine Venour. Her portrait of Rivkeh is skinless - and moving." Colin Thomas, Review of 'Asher Lev'
With over 30 years professional acting experience onstage, Katharine has performed on many stages in Western Canada: Theatre Calgary, Pacific Theatre, Touchstone Theatre, Persephone Theatre, Theatre Junction, The Garry Theatre, Chemainus Theatre. She's been nominated for Jessie Richardson Acting Awards in the category of best leading actress for her leading roles in St. Joan (Pacific Theatre); Shadowlands (Pacific Theatre); Late Company (Touchstone Theatre); and Wit (Pacific Theatre). Katharine received a B.F.A. in Acting from the University of Calgary, studying with Grant Reddick, a student of Uta Hagen.
Katharine earned an M.A. in English Literature at UBC which continues to contribute richly to her understanding of text and narrative as an actor and teacher. Katharine has also travelled to NYC to participate in workshops led by world-acclaimed acting and vocal coach, Patsy Rodenburg, at the Michael Howard Studios. This experience in studio with Patsy R. deeply enriched Katharine's understanding of vocal, body, and breath work, as well as Shakespearean text. Katharine believes that, not only performers, but speakers from a variety of disciplines - teachers, leaders, lawyers, students, or anyone who speaks publicly - can benefit from the skills and experience she has gained from her training and experience as a professional actor. As a private coach, she teaches these skills to anyone who seeks to become a natural, and engaging communicator.
